Get comfortable

Find a place and time that works for you. A quiet corner in your house that makes you feel comfortable and a time of the day where you can relax and won't be distracted is ideal to start meditation

Check-in 

When you start meditating, take a moment to check-in with yourself. Is there any discomfort in your body? Are you feeling happy, sad or any other emotion?

Focus on your breath

Slowly start to focus on your breath, noticing each inhale and exhale. Don't alter your breathing rhythm, just  focus on your breath and how you body is responding to it. This is how you start meditation.

Notice each thought

As thoughts come into your mind, don't react. Allow them to come in, acknowledge each thought and let it pass. When you get distracted, start to focus on your breathing again.

Notice your surroundings

After a few minutes, slowly start becoming aware of what is around you. Feel your body on the chair or the floor. Take a deep breath and slowly open your eyes.
