Myth #1: Gender identity is your biological gender assigned at birth and also how others perceive your gender.
Reality: Gender identity is entirely personal: it’s how you experience your gender internally and think about yourself.
Reality: Coming out can be an extremely personal and taxing decision. Don't make it your gossip by spreading the news without their consent and respect their wishes.
Myth #3: Gender-neutral bathrooms are exclusively for LGBTQIA+ people.
Reality: Gender-neutral bathrooms are meant to be used by everyone regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, expression. Eg: A mother taking her infant son to a gender-neutral restroom
Myth #4: Being around members of the LGBTQIA+ community or accessing information endangers wellbeing of children.
Reality: Learning about or spending time with people who are LGBTQIA+ doesn't influence the sexual or gender identity of minors, nor does it harm their wellbeing. In fact it helps normalize the term & be empathetic towards others.
