Unlabeled an emerging term:

The phrase “unlabeled” has very recently become popular. Even if the term might be becoming more common, it might still be little-known outside of the platform or community where it first appeared. As more individuals come to identify with it, the precise name and definition may not have settled and may alter dramatically.

History

Originally, lesbians who did not wish to identify as butch or femme used the phrase “unlabeled” to describe themselves. From thereon, its application was broadened to include sexuality in general and, in more modern times, gender.

The distinction between unlabeled and pomosexual:

Both ideas center on labels, or more particularly, on their absence. The positions taken by these two wordings about the acceptance or comprehension of labels vary.

People who identify as pomosexual publicly reject labels, classifications, affinity organisations, and membership in anything that separates people based on their sexual orientation. There is a clear disapproval of labels like bisexual, gay, heterosexual, etc. that describe sexual orientation.

Unlabeled individuals view labels as optional and consciously decide not to participate in them; nonetheless, there is no rejection or denial of anything, only a desire for definition to be absent.
